A superb film based on an actual event: the spontaneous Christmas Truce of 1914. Very moving.

*Not a children’s movie.

Of the great pairings in history—Bogie & Bacall, Veal & Chianti Classico, Dolce & Gabbana—this one seemed a disaster in the making.

—Yet somehow, it wasn’t.

A great and largely forgotten Christmas movie.

Made 89 years ago, it remains the best and most faithful film version of Dickens’ classic novel.

And you thought you were having a bad day.

How about a real one?

Burn it all to the ground. Coming Jan 20th.

For years, my German shepherd was my partner in this. I’d say, “Go get the boys up!”

He’d dart up the steps, open their door, and jump from bed to bed barking all the while!”

Take inventory this Thanksgiving Day of all the things you have to be thankful for and then express your gratitude, not to some vague deity or, worse, to yourself, but to the Lord God above.
