Why do it here and not on YouTube?

Of course, we do still post on YouTube. But it’s a tough slog over there. If you have been a regular listener to the “Ideas Have Consequences” podcast, you’ll know that we started IHC last year. After coming out of the box with huge viewership numbers between 300,000 - 600,000 per episode, YouTube put their fascist boot on our throat and dialed back our visibility hugely.

The way they do it is the stuff of diabolical genius: they often don’t send notifications to subscribers, they front-load the episode with ads knowing many would-be viewers won’t hang around, viewers have difficulty loading the show, they refuse to recommend it, and so on. We aren’t the only ones experiencing these problems. Google, the owner of YouTube, is notoriously left-wing. You may have seen the news last week that YouTube made Joe Rogan’s recent interview with Donald Trump unsearchable. The interview was there, but you couldn’t—presumably still cannot—find it in the YouTube search bar.

But, you might reasonably ask, why do Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and other notable conservatives still get so many views when we don’t?

That is a bit of a mystery given the fact that YouTube, like the New York Times Bestseller List, has never revealed the way its algorithms work. And why would they since it’s obvious that they have rigged the platform? However, tech experts think that YouTube couldn’t suppress them, at least not heavily, because they were already well-known when they began using YouTube. It would look highly suspicious if Candace Owens only had 2,500 views on an episode. So, blocking them is harder.

Even so, we press on with the confidence that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing. In this life, there are many things that are simply beyond our control. We do what we can do and trust the Lord for the rest. In this case, I, with the assistance of my talented team, continue to produce what I hope is insightful and encouraging content to help you navigate the social, political, and ideological minefield that the Western World has become. And, honestly, attempts to shut you down are almost always an indication that you’re over the target.

We created this platform to bypass the leftist censorship nonsense. As members, we can make sure you get notifications of new content and I will be able to engage with you in a way that I simply cannot on YouTube or Twitter. As one who spent years in the lecture halls explaining history, literature, and the flow of ideas, I much prefer to see faces rather than speak through a lifeless camera lens. I like the interaction, gauging facial expressions and body language, and seeing lives changed. So, I look forward to seeing your faces.

This Sunday November 3rd, I will host a pre-election YouTube Live event at 5 pm CT. This is open to the public, so invite your family and friends. Together we will consider what awaits us on Tuesday and beyond.
